MONTREAL - Paving work on the Champlain Bridge resumes this weekend.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday and right through until 5 a.m. Monday, only one lane of the Montreal-bound side of the Champlain Bridge will be open.

In an effort to minimize the long-term driving pain, only one lane of Highway 15 will be open in each direction between the Atwater and Nuns' Island exits for a separate repaving project.

The work was originally scheduled to take place during August, but rainy weather --including from Hurricane Irene -- forced the work to be rescheduled.

As always, drivers should take the Jacques Cartier Bridge instead, or try the Victoria Bridge which will have one lane open each way.

Bonaventure construction

Part of the Bonaventure Expressway will be closed in both directions this weekend starting at 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Drivers will have to detour around Exit 2 (Pierre-Dupuy Ave.)
