The Montreal Canadiens are once again off to a hot start with a 5-0-1 record in their first six games of the season.

Last year it was ten games in before the Tricolore lost a game, the best start to the season in the team's history.

But the team is not expecting another epic collapse this year because of who is between the pipes.

Not only is Carey Price healthy after sitting out most of last year with a knee injury, his backup, Al Montoya, has already demonstrated that he is capable of saving games for the Canadiens.

The Habs have the league's best save percentage, and that shouldn't be dropping this year.

"We all know what kind of goalie he is," said Montoya about Carey Price. "He is a calm patient goalie and there are definitely things you can take away. It's been fun watching him win."

When the team collapsed last year, part of the reason was the absolute failure of players to shoot on net.

The Canadiens had a four percent shooting percentage for two solid months, and right now the team is shooting at an above-average 15 percent.

"We know we're not going to shoot at this rate for the whole season, but when we have adversity and need to handle it we have to find ways to win games differently and that's why we practice so much on the power play," said Capt. Max Pacioretty.

The team's management is also thrilled with Shea Weber.

The defencemen has been given the room to play in his preferred style, which happens to be the method preferred by coach Michel Therrien.

He leads the team in scoring.

"He's doing a lot of good things on the ice. He is doing it defensively and offensively. He's got a good stick. He keeps his game really simple. He's physical. He's the ultimate teammate. He's got a positive presence in our dressing room so he's been a true leader so far for our team," said Therrien.

Another reason the Habs won't collapse is they have more talent doing well.

Artturi Lehkonen is doing better than Zack Kassian was last year, Alex Galchenyuk has improved after being allowed more time on ice, and the team's other gamble, Alex Radulov, is paying off.

"You just have to work hard all the time and people will see that. Sometimes it won't go your way but you just have to keep working hard," said Radulov.

The one negative so far this year is Tomas Plekanec, who has not scored this season, and only has 10 goals in his last 83 games.
