The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall of butter products sold in Quebec that may be contaminated with Listeria.

Shoppers should not consume any of the recalled products listed below if they were purchased before July 22nd:

  • St. Laurent Butter(454g)
  • St. Laurent Light Butter(454g)
  • Beurre du Lac(454g)
  • Perron Butter(454g)
  • Nutrinor Butter(454g)
  • Nutrinor Light Butter(454g)

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the point of purchase.

While food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell rank, it still carries the risk of sickness. Common symptoms include vomiting, nausea, fever, aching muscles, headache and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems are more at risk of sickness.

However, no Listeria-induced illnesses have been reported to the CFIA.
