The town of Vaudreuil-Dorion issued a boil water advisory Friday affecting thousands of residents.

The city said the boil water advisory is a preventive measure and comes after the repair of a major water main break that happened Thursday on Harwood Blvd.

A city crew worked all night, and the water was reconnected early Friday morning.

At that point, the city has no choice and must issue a boil water advisory affecting the entire Dorion sector.

Water must be boiled for at least one minute to be safe for drinking. The notice will be in effect for the next three days.

Over 80 streets are listed on the city’s website.

The city is waiting for laboratory results from lab in order to lift the boil water advisory.
