For the third time in two days, Montreal police are investigating an accident involving a snow-removal vehicle.

Just after 5 a.m. Wednesday a snowblower heading east on de la Verendrye rear-ended a car at the corner of Jolicoeur in Cote St. Paul.

There is considerable damage to the car, suggesting the snowblower was going quite fast. The city says no one was injured.

Three fatalities on Tuesday

This comes on the heels of two separate accidents yesterday that killed three Montrealers in their seventies.

They were crushed under the wheels of snow-removal vehicles operated by private sub-contractors.

In both cases, the vehicles and the pedestrians had green lights and the people were killed as the trucks turned right.

Investigations will be swift, mayor says

Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay promises the police probes into the three pedestrian deaths will be carried out as quickly as possible.

Four Montreal pedestrians have now died in accidents involving snow-clearing vehicles since December.
