MONTREAL - A water main break flooded a dozen homes Friday morning in a northern Montreal neighbourhood.

The break was noticed around 2:30 a.m. when water started seeping into several basements.

Hours later firefighters and city workers were still on the scene trying to stop the flooding.

People who live in the area, at the intersection of Gouin Blvd. and d'Alembert Rd., did not have to leave their homes.

The cause of the burst pipe is not known, but the extreme weather changes seen in Montreal this week are likely the cause.
