MONTREAL - A Montreal jury has found two of five Norbourg associates guilty of charges in connection with a financial fraud scandal.

The company's co-founder and former senior vice president of Norbourg, Serge Beaugrant, was convicted of fraud on Monday, after 15 days of deliberation. He was, however, cleared of charges related to forgery.

Financial controller Jean Cholette was also convicted by the jury.

The pair could face up to 14 years in prison.

Computer specialist Félicien Souka and consultant Jean Renaud were found not guilty.

Jurors, however, failed to agree on the fate of another associate, Rémi Deschambault. Discussions will continue on Tuesday.

In total, the five men were facing 604 counts.

The jurors were asked on Saturday to rehear the testimony of Deschambault external auditor of the company of Vincent Lacroix.

This was a second trial for the five men, with the first ending in a hung jury in January after an exhaustive four-month trial despite 12 days of deliberations.

The jurors in that trial indicated the evidence was too complex.
