DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX -- About 139 homes were without power in Dollard-des-Ormeaux for much of the day and evening Tuesday after six hydro poles came crashing down.

Residents say one pole fell and dragged five more poles down with it on Arthur St.

The fire department arrived at the scene at 3:15 p.m. to cordon off the area. At least one home was damaged.

Some residents said they weren’t surprised by the event, and had complained to Hydro Quebec about the condition of the poles, which they said were rotting.

A spokesperson with Hydro Quebec was unable to confirm if complaints had been made, but confirmed that crews will be working through the night Tuesday to replace the poles and wires.
