Quebec's minimum wage increased by 20 cents an hour on May 1.

That means the lowest-paid workers in society are now earning $10.55 an hour.

Those who collect tips are seeing a 15 cent increase, from $8.90 to $9.05/hour.

Labour Minister Sam Hamad said there are 271,500 minimum-wage employees in Quebec, the vast majority of them women.

Fruit and produce-pickers are also getting a pay hike, with raspberry pickers getting $3.12/kg and strawberry pickers getting $0.83 a kilo.

The minimum wage in Ontario is rising to $11.25/hour in October, while in mid-march the minimum wage in B.C. will soon increase to $10.45.
