Two days after CAA-Quebec noted that many gasoline price hikes in Quebec were not justified, gas stations in Montreal are doing it again.
The price at the pump went up 16 cents Tuesday night and now sits at $1.07/litre at most stations in Montreal.
Meanwhile the average price of gasoline in Quebec is 87.5 cents/litre.
This week the provincial Energy Board said the minimum price of gas should be 90.6 cents/litre.
The hike comes as Couche-Tard announced it was buying 279 Esso stations in Quebec, while the Harnois Group is buying an additional 36 Esso stations in the province. Imperial Oil is selling all of its gas stations across Canada for $2.8 billion.
Earlier this week CAA-Quebec said the profit margin from Montreal gas stations went up in 2015, while they stayed the same or decreased in most of the province.
