The Surete du Quebec have identified the body of a homicide victim found at the base of Mont Saint-Hilaire Saturday.

The victim was 55-year-old Roland Duguay of Montreal, who was known to authorities, said SQ spokesperson Ingrid Asselin-- who did not disclose any further details.

Duguay was convicted on charges of breaking-and-entering in the mid-1980's. He was also handed a minor drug charge for possession of hashish in 1985.

The Surete du Quebec has confirmed that Duguay was a victim of murder, but no suspect has been arrested.

Authorities are still awaiting autopsy results to shed light on how Duguay died.

Police are asking the public for help to gather clues.

According to police the body was discovered at the intersection of Rouillard and Authier streets around 7:30 a.m. by someone riding an ATV.

As the body was "marked by violence," police with the Richelieu St-Laurent police had reason to suspect foul play, and transferred the file to the SQ.

The SQ have not been able to determine how long Duguay had been dead at the time his body was discovered, and would not give details on the nature of the injuries.
