Free-agent relief pitcher Eric Gagne has signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The deal, reached Wednesday night, includes an invitation to spring training camp.

Gagne, 34, won a Cy Young award as a Dodgers closer in 2003, with 55 saves and a 1.20 ERA.

Last season in the majors was 2008

The Montrealer hasn't pitched in the majors since the 2008 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, when he had a 5.44 ERA and pitched in the post-season.

Gagne spent last season with the Quebec Capitals in the independent Can-Am League. He had a 6-6 record and helped the Capitals clinch the league championship.

The Colorado Rockies also showed an interest in Gagne's services. Manager Jim Tracy, who remains close with Gagne from their days together in Los Angeles, watched him throw on Tuesday.
