Laval police think a man accused of breaking into homes and stealing may have many more victims.

Michel Metivier has already served several years of a 12 year sentence for breaking and entering before he was granted parole in October 2016, but that parole was revoked eight months ago.

Police finally located him last week: the department says an officer pulled over Metivier's car at which point Metivier presented a fake RCMP identification and fled the scene only to smash into a parked car, then flee on foot and break into a house.

He was tracked down with the help of police dogs, and appeared in court on August 10. His next court date is November 8.

Police say they have DNA evidence that Metivier broke into two homes in Laval in the past year, but believe he has robbed many other homes in the area.

In their search for evidence they're asking anyone with information about Metivier to contact them by calling 450-662-4636.

Metivier is 43 years old, with pale skin, grey hair, and brown eyes

He stands 1.75 m tall and weighs 80 kg (5'8", 175 lbs), and speaks French.
