MONTREAL - Fire claimed the life of an 87-year-old man early Sunday after a blaze broke out in his home on Ile Perrot, just west of Montreal.
Firefighters descended on the scene at 3:30 a.m. to witness a man caught inside a home by flames. He was taken out and rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.
The home on Perrot Blvd. was destroyed by the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and investigators are searching for clues.
Fire also claimed another victim earlier last evening in Sherbrooke, as a man in his forties died in an apartment building fire on Kennedy South in the east end of the city at 9:30 p.m. .
