Former Parti Quebecois MNA Nicolas Girard has been named head of the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (AMT).

Girard was the PQ's tranportation critic and representative for Gouin before being defeated on Sept. 4 by Quebec Solidaire co-leader Francoise David.

The former MNA will replace Paul Cote, who has been interim President and CEO since Joel Gauthier resigned in January.

Girard starts Oct. 9.
