The former head of the Liberal Party of Canada's Quebec wing, is expected to plead guilty Wednesday to fraud and conspiracy charges linked to the federal sponsorship scandal.

Benoit Corbeil served as director of the Quebec wing from 1999 to 2000.

He's accused of defrauding the party and the federal government of more than $100,000.

He has already admitted handing out envelopes stuffed with cash to volunteers before the 2000 election.

The federal sponsorship program gave at least $150 million to Liberal-friendly ad agencies in Quebec for little or no work.
