A restaurant in Saint Remi, on Montreal's south shore, was destroyed by a fire late Monday night.

The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. at Anatolia Restaurant, located at the corner of Notre Dame St. and Lachapelle St. West.

Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading to a nearby building, but the restaurant was gutted by the flames, with the roof collapsing overnight.

The restaurant was closed when the fire began, and nobody was hurt.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The Sureté du Quebec arson squad is expected to examine the wreckage on Tuesday to determine how the fire began.
