It was one late train too many for Pincourt resident Yves Boyer.

The commuter has filed a request for a class action lawsuit on behalf of 45,000 other commuters against the AMT, for what he considers 15 months of bad service.

He is seeking a refund of 30 per cent of the cost of every monthly pass for every rider retroactive to Dec. 2007, plus an extra $1000 to cover damages.

"Class actions exist to modify behaviour," said Norman, Painchaud, a lawyer. "Up till now, for the last 15 months, the AMT has not changed its behaviour sufficiently to give results. They've given good words and shown good intentions, [but] without real effect.

"They will have to answer in front of people under the supervision of a judge as to what has happened in the last 15 months, what should be done to prevent this, and they will have to suffer the consequences of having not done what should be done," he said.

The AMT announced Tuesday it would be giving discounts to certain commuters on the Dorion-Rigaud and Deux-Montagnes line a 50 per cent discount for their March transit passes. However, those discounts are only redeemable with a coupon to be handed out on Feb. 18.

The AMT says if someone is unable to obtain a coupon that day, they should call. A spokesperson said requests for coupons after the date they are handed out will be handled on a case-by-case basis because they do not want customers to get more than one coupon.
