It was a chilling scene early Sunday morning in Blainville, when a body was found in a burned-out car, possibly with its hands and feet bound.

The car was spotted on fire near a business at the corner of Jean-Guyon and Michel-Bohec Sts., north of Montreal, by a passerby who alerted firefighters.

The victim was reported to have hands and feet tied together and was allegedly found in the trunk of a car, but Surete du Quebec would not confirm the information.

Police could also not confirm the victim's gender.

Blainville police called in SQ investigators to assist with the case. The investigators inspected the vehicle for evidence that would point to a homicide.

Similar crimes have been linked to the Mafia and biker gangs.
