After six months with its doors closed, Montreal's Biodome reopened Saturday with savvy upgrades and a few new inhabitants.
The centre had been shut due to a labour dispute. It also faced more than a million dollars worth of repairs.
Saturday's grand reopening offers visitors their first glimpse of two new penguin chicks and a callmico monkey – a rare breed from South America.
Other features include dozens of new interactive stations, a new visitor guide and more games for kids.
Handrails have also been removed so visitors can get a closer look at various species. New skylights were also recently added to brighten the attractions.
Throughout the weekend, those 17 and under will get in for free.
The "zoo-museum" offers the chance to discover four different ecosystems— including the tropical rain forest, the Laurentian forest, the St. Lawrence marine ecosystem as well as the Arctic and the Antarctic.
