MONTREAL- The Wong family of Dollard des Ormeaux is planning a funeral, and hoping they will only have to lay to rest one member of their family.

Ngnan Yee Wong was walking along Ceres St. in DDO on Feb. 22, 2012 when she was struck and killed by a car.

Her 72-year-old husband, Poom Huy Shuy, remains in a coma.

Their nephew Bill Wong says the couple were taking the same walk they have done nightly for the past 15 years, from Sunnybrooke train station to their home.

"It's just senseless," said Wong. "Somebody so close to me and all of a sudden they're gone."

Wong the nephew has been taking care of his aunt's magazine store in Chinatown since her death, and hopes his uncle will recover from his injuries and emerge from his coma.

Their son waits tables at a Chinese restaurant, and has not been to work since the collision.

"I think everybody is hurting inside. She was a wonderful, wonderful person and all of a sudden she's not with us anymore," said Wong.

Her funeral is scheduled to take place next week.

In the meantime the man accused of causing Wong's death, and injuring her husband, will remain behind bars until March 12.

The decision regarding Yvan Grandmaison, 40, was once again delayed on Tuesday.

He faces charges of impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

The crown says Grandmaison has a history of impaired driving charges, with a conviction in 2004. A second charge was dropped in 2006.

"Our position stays the same today as it did at the arraignment," said Dennis Galiatsatos. "We're still objecting to the accused's release because he's a public danger."
