An incident at a Montreal hotel room on July 7 has attracted international attention, as actress Emma Roberts, 22, was reportedly briefly arrested by Montreal police on suspicion of assaulting her boyfriend Evan Peters, 26.
Police confirmed that they received a call from the hotel but cannot confirm whether Roberts was involved, as charges were ultimately not laid following the affair.
Celebrity gossip website perezhilton.com quoted a statement apparently issued by jointly by both parties Wednesday.
"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."
Roberts is the daughter is actor Eric Roberts and niece of film star Julia Roberts.
Celebrity TV program TMZ reported that Peters, who was in Montreal to film a role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, suffered a bloody nose and a bite mark.
The couple also star in a TV program called American Horror Story.
