Health authorities have revealed a possible case of Ebola in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region of Quebec, after a person who had contact with visitors to West Africa was hospitalized.

The Quebec Public Health Laboratory sent samples to a federal government laboratory in Winnipeg after the patient showed signs consistent of Ebola, it was announced Friday at noon.

A provincial health department representative reported that the risk of the patient being infected are considered low. The test results are expected Saturday.

Meanwhile Rio Tinto Alcan announced that those working on its ships traveling to Guinea in West Africa will no longer have contact with residents of the country.
