A Quebec man has been denied bail two months after being arrested and charged with terrorism-related offences.
The Crown says Ismael Habib wants to head to the Middle East to join a terrorist group. If convicted he can be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
Habib, 28, was arrested in March in Gatineau and charged with threatening his girlfriend, and with trying to leave Canada and participate in terror-related activities.
In March police said Habib's wife, living in the Middle East, had been radicalized.
Habib is also facing a charge of giving false information in order to obtain a passport.
A Crown witness testified Thursday morning, but a publication ban on the case forbids the press from being specific in relating what was said in court.
After hearing from the prosecution's witness, Habib's defence lawyer decided not to present any further evidence or character witnesses.
Habib returns to court on June 7, 2016.
