Police were able to track the 21-year-old man down after doctors reported they were working on a patient with a gunshot wound. He is expected to recover.
Police say the shooting is gang-related, and that the man is known to have connections to street gangs. He is not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
They have made no arrests and have no information about possible suspects. A police spokesman also said he is not aware of any connections with other recent incidents.
Last Thursday, a fight broke out between about 20 people in Montreal North and ended with one man being stabbed. Police later said the incident was street gang-related.
