A 45-year-old man was shot and killed overnight in what appears to be a targeted killing.

The attack happened at 11:15 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot outside Place Versailles in Montreal, where Sherbrooke St. crosses over Highway 25.

Witnesses heard at least one gunshot, and police and paramedics arrived to find a 45-year-old man shot in the head. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police say shooting victim is known to officers, but at this point they are not revealing his identity to the public.

Detectives spent the night examining the parking lot for any clues about the assailants but they have very little information. They have not said if the people who heard the gunfire saw anyone leaving the area.
