The Montreal Impact, a team which failed to win on the road last season, were once again kept out of the win column in their MLS season-opener.
Jairo Arrieta scored the game’s only goal in the 59th minute Saturday in Washington D.C. in a 1-0 over the Montreal Impact.
Former Montreal Impact team captain Davy Arnaud helped set up the goal that ended in a shot from 18 yards out past Evan Bush.
The Impact came close to getting an equalizer in the 76th minute when Hassoun Camara’s shot from an in-close melee was blocked by United defender Conor Doyle. Impact pleas for a hand-ball call were denied.
Justin Mapp left the game on a stretcher in the 81st minute after colliding into the D.C. goalkeeper. He suffered a dislocated elbow, the team revealed after the game.
The Impact next play an MLS league game on March 21 against the New England Revolution.
Barcelona's Carlos Puyol dislocated his elbow in 2012 and was out for 6 weeks. Just for a guideline perhaps on Mapp absence. #IMFC.
