Montreal police (SPVM) is investigating after two vehicles were set ablaze in different parts of the city.

The first incident occurred at 10 p.m. in the outdoor parking lot of Carrefour Langelier in the Saint-Léonard borough.

"Firefighters brought the fire under control and the vehicle, which was heavily damaged, is a total loss," said Mariane Allaire Morin, a spokesperson with Montreal police. "On site, there are indications that it could be an arson."

There were no reported injuries and no arrests.

Then, at 12:30 a.m., the force received a 911 call about a vehicle on fire in the outdoor parking lot of Plaza Côte-des-Neiges in the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.

"Firefighters brought the fire under control in the first vehicle but the fire damaged a second vehicle nearby," said Allaire Morin. "Since it is currently impossible to determine the cause of the fire, the investigation has been transferred to the arson unit."

There were no reported injuries and no arrests.

All the vehicles are expected to be towed for examination.
