A 22-year-old man has been charged in the first-degree murder of his parents after a couple was found dead in a home in Ottawa Monday night.

Montreal police say a man called 911 and allegedly confessed to killing his parents a few days earlier. They then contacted Ottawa police about the situation.

Dave Rogers, 69, and his wife Merrill Rogers, 63, were found dead at a home in Carleton Heights.

Dave Rogers was a reporter with the Ottawa Citizen from the early 1970s until 2010.

Investigators took the suspect, Cameron Rogers, back to Ottawa Tuesday.

The Ottawa Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating. They are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.

These are Ottawa's 18th and 19th homicides of 2016.
