Montreal police have received about 20 tips concerned a murder in a grocery store.

Not one has panned out.

“We're still asking the public if they see, know the man in the picture, we ask them to either call 911 if they're in presence of this man. The police officers will come to try to identify this individual,” said Montreal police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursiere.

They are now asking anyone who thinks they recognize the murder suspect caught on surveillance camera to call 9-1-1.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the deadly attack. They do not believe Beaulieu-Patry knew her attacker.

“It seemed like a random attack, on the other hand you have to understand that this individual went into the back of the store to target this particular individual,” said Lacoursiere.

Police say that at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday the man, described only as a black male in his late 20s, walked into the Maxi on Cremazie Blvd. and walked directly to the clothing department in the back half of the store.

That is where the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Clemence Beaulieu-Patry in the neck, back and had both her wrists slit. He then walked out of the store and has not been seen since.

Beaulieu-Patry died at the scene while her father waited in the parking lot to pick up his daughter after her shift.

Police have distributed the grainy images taken by surveillance cameras.

On Tuesday, regular staff members at the store were given the time off and replaced by employees from other locations.

The store has also added extra security guards.
