The city's fleet of all-electric taxis hit the road Thursday, but not everyone can catch a ride yet.
The Teo Taxi service is up and running but for the first couple of weeks the app needed to hail the cabs is in beta testing. A select group of customers will try out the service and help improve it. The app will be available in about two weeks for the general public.
For the drivers, Taxelco's Teo taxi fleet represents a different way of doing business. Drivers get a salary, benefits and paid vacation, unlike most taxi drivers.
Pricing will be flexible cheaper during some evenings, for example. The company hopes to grow the fleet to 1,000 cars by 2017.
