MONTREAL—Police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman who was found by investigators on Friday night in a Montreal North apartment.
A source has confirmed with CTV Montreal that the death could be linked with the disappearance of Pamela Jean, a 27-year-old woman from Longueuil who went missing in downtown Montreal on Dec. 30.
The body was found at around 9:30 p.m. in a duplex on Hotel-de-Ville St. Investigators met with the 32-year-old male tenant of the apartment where the body was found. According to police, he is considered an important witness
“We need to wait for the autopsy later this week to determine the identity and cause of death of the woman found in Montreal North,” said Montreal police spokesman Daniel Lacoursiere.
Police confirmed that they had been called to the apartment in the past.
Jean was last seen at the corner of Ste-Catherine St. and Stanley St. at around 7 p.m. on the day before New Year’s Eve. According to police, she could have been in the Villeray area after her disappearance.
If the autopsy shows that the woman was murdered, the Jan. 4 death would be considered Montreal’s first homicide for 2013.
