MONTREAL—Officers from the Surete du Quebec were surprised on Saturday morning when their radio car was stolen as they responded to a call near Montreal.

The incident took place at around 5 a.m. in the town of l’Epiphanie, 45 kilometres north-east of Montreal. Two SQ officers were responding to a domestic abuse call on Notre-Dame St. and were inside a home speaking with witnesses when they believe a 39-year-old man exited the house and stole the car to escape.

The police officers were able to follow a trail left by the driver and tracked the Dodge Charger down by 8 a.m. No weapons were inside the car at the time.

The suspect is known to police and as of 1 p.m. the SQ was still searching for him.
