While thousands of people have converged on Parc Jean Drapeau to take in Osheaga, not everybody in Montreal is feeling like partying.
Residents in Saint-Lambert have been protesting the annual music festival for years, saying the noise can be intolerable.
“I have children and we cannot go to sleep until 11 or more than that,” said resident Claire Croteau.
Another person who lives in the area, Max Peltier, said he remembers one weekend where “It was so noisy that we were obliged to stay inside.
They say that Osheaga is bad enough, but with the Heavy Montreal and Ile Sonique festivals still to come, it’s three weekends in a row of too much noise.
“I can manage one evening once in a while, but after 30 hours, I become very stressed,” said Croteau.
Not everybody in Saint-Lambert is unhappy. Other residents said they are bothered more by noise from the highway, with one adding “It depends on your age. People who are older tend to prefer quiet.”
