Police are searching for the driver of a car that ran down a 72-year-old woman and fled the scene.
The collision happened at 10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Fernard Gauthier Ave. and Perras Blvd.
The driver was going along Fernard Gauthier Ave. when he or she hit the pedestrian crossing the street and then sped off.
The victim has serious injuries to her head and legs but is expected to survive.
Police say they located an abandoned vehicle several hours later that matched the description of the one involved in the hit and run, however this vehicle had been reported stolen -- so they don't know who was driving.
