Longueuil police are investigating after the family of an elderly woman says two employees in a nursing home in Saint-Lambert abused her. The 87-year-old woman has since died.

Police received a complaint in late November that the woman had been abused at the Saint-Lambert sur le Golf long-term care facility.

The unidentified family of the woman installed a video recording device in their mother's room and claimed two employees can be seen assaulting the senior.

“The woman is deceased since the event,” said Longueuil police spokesperson Mark David.

“We don't know if it's because of the assault but the investigation is ongoing now. We have two people that interest us in this case; two women who would have worked at the home at the time and we're trying to get the proof, to see what was on these videos.”

The home is run by Le Groupe Savoie, a private company that runs several facilities in Quebec.
