One man arrested, victim in hospital after Thursday night stabbing in Montreal

A man was stabbed in Montreal's Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough Thursday night.

Police received a call at around 8:30 p.m. that a person had been stabbed in the upper body on Saint-Germain Street, near Rachel Street.

"A 35-year-old man was stabbed after an altercation with a 59-year-old man," said Jean-Pierre Brabant, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

The victim was transported to hospital and his condition remains unknown.

Officers arrested Yves Paquette at the scene and brought him to a nearby detention centre.

He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon and criminal harassment.

Paquette is due in court on Monday.
