A Molotov cocktail was tossed into a café close to Montreal city hall early Monday morning.

Just after midnight, the incendiary device was launched into the front entrance of Tasse et Coupe on Notre Dame St. East and Gosford St.

The café was closed at the time.

The Molotov cocktail caused a small fire that quickly was put out.  There were no injuries and the apartment above the business did not need to be evacuated.

Witnesses say that they saw two men fleeing on foot. The Montreal police arson squad is on scene to search for clues and investigate further.
