With the busy Christmas party season getting underway, it's time for the Opération Nez Rouge volunteers to jump back into action.

And this year, the free drive-home service's 27th year on Montreal's roads, users will be able to turn to Twitter to find out how long it will take for their personal escorts home to arrive.

Nez Rouge is listing wait times for the five Quebec cities where they operate on Twitter in real time, giving revelers even less of an excuse to be driving home drunk.

"It's terrible to see so many tragedies happen, that's why I volunteered," Nez Rouge telephone operator Georgie Brown told CTV Montreal's Annie DeMelt. "So please drive safely, and don't drink and drive. It's so important."

Every year, some 200 Quebecers are killed and almost 3000 are injured in car accidents linked to drunk driving.

For Louis Lesieur, it was his experiences tempting fate that led him to volunteer as a Nez Rouge driver this year for the first time.

"I went back home driving when I was a little tipsy, maybe a bit drunk, and I'm thankful that nothing happened to me," he said.

Nez Rouge will drive home about 50,000 Quebecers over the holiday season and volunteers are always welcome. You can find out how you can help by visiting the website or going to their Facebook page.
