MONTREAL - A man accused of helping incite the Rwandan genocide in 1994 has now been moved from a Quebec City hospital and to an immigration detention centre.

Leon Mugesera is facing deportation back to Rwanda where he faces charges related to a 1992 speech he made that allegedly helped spur the massacre of some 800-thousand people two years later.

Mugesera was hospitalized Wednesday for an unspecified health condition after the Federal Court ruled against what was believed to be his final attempt to stay in Canada.

A Quebec Superior Court justice ordered a one-week delay on Thursday -- the day he was due to be deported.

Mugesera's lawyers have argued the Quebec City resident could face torture if he returns to the African country.
