The controversy surrounding comments made by Quebec solidaire (QS) MNA Haroun Bouazzi is continuing unabated.

Bouazzi, who spoke of alleged racism in the National Assembly, was rebuffed by his party's spokespeople.

Meanwhile, the other three provincial parties say they will each table a motion Tuesday to denounce his remarks.

The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) motion is calling on Bouazzi to withdraw his remarks and apologize to the members of the National Assembly, “who were targeted by his accusations of racism.”

Tuesday morning, Bouazzi's colleague, MNA Christine Labrie, was asked whether he should remain in the caucus.

“Haroun will make his own decisions,” she replied. “What I can tell you is that his comments make me extremely uncomfortable, and I don't agree with them. The notion that members of the National Assembly are racist is not one we subscribe to at Quebec solidaire.”
