A 38-year-old man is facing charges related to luring young girls online, the second such arrest in Quebec in less than a week.
Hadj Brahim Deramchi was in court on Friday to be arraigned on charges of inviting sexual contact, luring minors, posession and distribution of child pornography and sexual assault. Police allege he was using Facebook to meet girls as young as 12-years-old. They said there have been two confirmed victims and there may be more.
The two girls are from Joliette and Montreal.
Police said Deramchi would use social media to start conversations and would then invite the young girls to share photos with him, engage in explicit conversations and would try to set up a meeting.
He allegedly touched one of the girls.
It's the second case in less than a week involving a Quebec man accused of luring teens online.
A 24-year-old man was charged Wednesday with several counts of luring and inciting minors to have sexual contact.
Francois Roy was arrested in Rosemont Petite Patrie on Tuesday.
Police said Roy answered online ads from girls offering babysitting services, and over time began sending sexually explicit messages to the 11- and 12-year-olds.
Police say one girl was in Quebec City, while the other was in Montreal.
He was charged with one count of luring a child and one invitation to sexual touching.
Officers say parents should talk to their children to see if they have received sexually explicit messages but were too embarrassed to discuss the issue. Anyone with information for either case is asked to contact the police.
