Claude Hamelin, 59, has been fingered by police for allegedly helping convicted murderer Robert Gaudette’s flight from a Laval minimum security prison last Tuesday.
Hamelin was schedule to appear in court in Salaberry de Valeyfield to face charges related to lodging Gaudette after his escape from the Montee St. Francois Institute.
Hamelin has a prior criminal record which includes several impaired driving charges and he was sentenced to two years for manslaughter in 1986.
Gaudette, who was convicted of murdering his wife Cindy Bouchard in 2002, remains at large.
