For the first time in 25 years Verdun will have a new representative in the National Assembly.

Liberal MNA Henri-Francois Gautrin has represented the riding for 25 years and said it is time for his party to revive itself.

"I am leaving in serenity, and it's time for renewal within the deputation," said Gautrin. "When you are 70 years old the number of years left is small."

Gautrin got into hot water recently when he predicted the Parti Quebecois would win the next election, but he said he was not asked to leave.

"Frankly no, it's my decision and it seems to me that they have a candidate who is a good candidate, and I will do all my best for him, or her, to be elected," said Gautrin.

He added that he does know who wants to run in the riding, but was not willing to spill the beans just yet.

However he did hint that the Liberals would be bringing forth a star economic candidate.

This makes Gautrin the fourth Liberal MNA to announce he will not run for re-election.

Earlier in the week  Yolande James, Pierre Marsan, and Danielle St-Amand all announced they will not be running for re-election when the National Assembly is dissolved.
