Voters who turned out for advance voting for the English school board elections were in for a surprise today.
Long lines awaited voters -- one reported waiting an hour and a half to cast his ballot for the EMSB elections.
He said the polling stations were poorly organized.
Spokesperson Mike Cohen said the board was taking note of the issues and will work to rectify them for next week’s vote.
Some stations only had three people working who had to deal with higher-than-expected voter turnout.
Incumbent Lester B. Pearson School Board chairperson Suanne Stein Day confirmed there was a problem with some ballots not being delivered to certain schools on time.
While the problem was “quickly fixed,” it's unclear if it had any impact on the voters' ability to cast their ballots, she said.
This is the first school board election in eight years.
Election Day is Nov. 2.
