Public Security Minister Lise Theriault won’t be returning to her post, according to a published report.

It was announced Thursday that Theriault would be going on leave for an undetermined amount of time.

A La Presse report, citing sources, says she won't be returning to the job.

When pressed about her future, Premier Philippe Couillard said only that she would remain a cabinet minister, but would not say that she would be returning to the public security file.

"She's resting. My only concern is her health, I want her to recover fully and come back with us. She's still a member of our team," he said.

Couillard isn't ruling out a cabinet shuffle but says he's satisfied with his team.

Theriault has been overseeing the investigation into claims of police abuse involving aboriginal women in Val d'Or and has been in the opposition's crosshairs since the news broke.

Her portfolio has been handed over to Municipal Affairs Minister Pierre Moreau for the time being.
