A spill forced the closure of Highway 25 northbound Sunday morning at the Hochelaga Street exit, near the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel in Montreal.

According to provincial police (SQ), a heavy vehicle traveling northbound experienced a mechanical issue around 7 a.m., causing the spill that led to the closure.

Transport Quebec is overseeing the cleanup which is currently underway. All northbound lanes are currently closed.

Complicating matters for motorists, a vehicle stalled on southbound side of the highway on the only open lane causing congestion.

The SQ said that a stalled vehicle on the southbound side of the highway on the only lane open. However, the stalled vehicle should be removed shorty.
