The Montreal Impact are in the middle of a slump, but this time around, the problem isn't scoring goals, it's stopping them.
The team has scored at least one goal in each of its past five games, but Coach Marc Dos Santos admits the team's defence is weak.
"We give easy goals away and if you can't score and you give easy goals away, you don't win," said Dos Santos.
Montreal is currently sitting in third place in its six-team division, and are going into the halfway point of the season with a four-game winless streak.
"It is a red flag," said midfielder David Testo. "We're having to adjust and change some things here and there, but we have to continue thinking positive, and know that we can get out of this."
While the players aren't making excuses, injuries are taking their toll, with Testo, Jordan Pesoli, Eduardo Sebrango were already on the injured list, and now Adam Brazil is out with a hip injury.
Team captain Nevio Pizzolitto is confident his team can pull through.
"Obviously it doesn't help things but we believe in everybody here. That was the motto the whole year," said Pizzolitto.
This Saturday the team plays in St. Louis, then returns to Saputo stadium on Wednesday July 14 for its next four games.
