A funeral will be held Friday Dec. 9, for Vincent Roy, the Bromont police officer who was killed when he was hit by a truck Thursday.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Saint-François-Xavier Church at 650 Shefford St. in Bromont.

Visitation will be held at the family's request at the Bromont arena, at 20 John Savage St., Thursday beginning at 2 p.m.

Roy, 37, died on Dec. 1 in a car crash that took place on Highway 139 just after he stopped a vehicle about 100 kilometres east of Montreal.

As Roy returned to his patrol car, a white cube van left its lane, hit the patrol vehicle and then the driver rammed her vehicle into the officer.

Surete du Quebec say the officer died at the scene.

Roy is survived by his wife and a 10-year-old-son and eight-year-old daughter. He had just returned from serving 18 months in Alberta with the RCMP.
