Family members and friends of a 67-year-old woman, savagely beaten to death last week, gathered to mourn for her at a funeral service Saturday.

Kim Ngu Lieu, a Vietnamese immigrant, was attacked after getting off a bus last Sunday night at St. Vital and Henri Bourassa Blvds. in Montreal North.

Ngu Lieu was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries, after she was surrounded, beaten, and robbed of her purse.

Two teens -- one aged 15, the other aged 16 -- were arrested that night; the third, also 16, was arrested the following day.

The accused were initially charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted murder.

But because the woman died Wednesday in hospital, the teens -- who can't be named because they are minors -- will face more serious charges.
